Hydrosols: What are They and How are They Made?

Hydrosols, also known as "flower waters," are produced by distilling fresh leaves, fruits, flowers, and other plant materials. Heat the plant materials with distilled water and collect the steam. The steam is known as the hydrosol. With similar properties to essential oils, these aromatic waters are much less concentrated. Their aromas are often soft and subtle when compared to essential oils.

We make our hydrosols in-house and use them in a variety of our products such as the much loved ritual face wash, our body products, and other skincare products.

Offering skin care benefits and uplifting aromatherapy properties; they make wonderful perfumes, deodorants, facial toners, air fresheners, and aromatherapy sprays. And they are great additions to herbal skincare when blended with other flower waters or used as a replacement for water in your favorite skincare recipes.
