10 Herbal Hair Rinse Recipes

There are many different recipes for herbal hair rinses, but they basically consist of water infused with herbs, acv, and/or essential oils.

Every herb has unique benefits, so depending on what you use, it can give various benefits like growth, moisture, oil balance, etc.

10 herbal hair rinse recipes:

  1. For hair growth, simmer 2 cups of water and a sprig of rosemary on low for one hour. Pour the water into a glass jar and add 5 drops peppermint essential oil & 5 drops carrot seed essential oil.
  2. For scalp soothing & hair growth, simmer 2 cups of water and a sprig of rosemary for one hour. Pour the water into a glass jar and add 5 drops of lavender essential oil.
  3. For hair growth, simmer 2 cups of water and a sprig of rosemary and thyme for an hour. Pour the water into a glass jar.
  4. For dry, brittle hair, put 1 tbsp dried calendula flowers & 1 tbsp dried chamomile in a glass jar. Pour 8 oz boiling water over top and let sit for 4 hours. Drain & store water in a glass jar.
  5. Put 1 tbsp dried raspberry leaf in a jar & pour 8 oz boiling water over top. Let sit for 4 hours. Drain & store water in a glass jar. Add 5 drops of sage essential oil.
  6. For light colored hair: Put 1 tbsp of dried yarrow, calendula, & chamomile in a jar. Pour 8 oz of boiling water over the herbs & let sit for 4 hours. Then drain and store in a glass jar. 
  7. For dark hair, steep black tea, rosemary sprigs, and red raspberry leaf in boiling water for 4 hours. Drain & store in glass jar. 
  8. For red hair, steep hibiscus, red clover, and calendula in boiling water for 4 hours. Drain and store in glass jar.
  9. For dry, brittle hair, steep green tea, nettle, calendula, and chamomile in boiling water for 4 hours. Drain and store in glass jar.
  10. For oily hair, steep comfrey root, burdock root, and nettle in boiling water for 4 hours. Drain and store in a glass jar.
